A group of pupils from Orsett Church of England Primary School have recently taken part in the Orsett Church Centre’s very own Macmillan Coffee Morning. This special event encourages people across the country to come together and chat over a slice of cake and a cup of tea to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Trust. Last year, the charity raised over £10 million to support those living with cancer, which makes a huge difference when it comes to looking after cancer patients and their families.
The pupils really enjoyed getting involved with the cause and proved to be a superb group of helpers, taking orders from churchgoers and delivering cakes to everyone who attended the fundraising event. They loved chatting with all of the visitors and embodying the Trust’s values of care and community to make sure that the morning was a success.
Gemma Smith, Headteacher at Orsett C of E Primary School, said,
“Our Year 5 pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school, and the organisers were so impressed that we’ve been invited every fortnight to help!”
The coffee morning raised over £450.00 for the Macmillan Cancer Trust, and the school is delighted to have played a part in supporting such an important cause.
