Our CEO, Emma Wigmore, recently wrote a piece for The Headteacher magazine about how our Vine Schools Trust schools managed to keep their pupils fed during the pandemic.
With news of a national lockdown in March last year throwing the whole country into a tailspin, there was much confusion around how free school meals would continue to operate and who would be responsible for feeding children in those families who rely on support.
There was much back and forth between the government, local authorities, schools, and even celebrities on how best to adapt the scheme during the pandemic, but our schools did not have the luxury of time to debate the issue if they were going to ensure pupils would not go hungry.
Children within the Trust are not just statistics, they are pupils that we have a duty of care for, and we are very proud of how our schools handled the challenge, with many staff members going above and beyond to ensure that children were fed properly even during the holidays.
