The children at St Margaret’s Church of England Academy recently held a celebratory tea party to mark the Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee.
Pupils spent the morning decorating handmade crowns to wear to the party and Jubilee-themed lunch bags for taking any leftover treats home. Dressed in red, white and blue, all of the classes came together to eat a picnic lunch in the school hall, which consisted of sweet treats, savoury snacks and lots of cake! Prior to the party, every class was asked to choose a song from each decade that the Queen has reigned and prepare a dance to perform in the afternoon.
To continue the celebrations, parents and carers were invited to a party in the playground. The school’s local Tesco store kindly volunteered to help and brought along plenty of supplies, with three members of staff staying to help run the tea and coffee stall. St Margaret’s Pupil Parliament spent the afternoon running a cake stall and finished the day with an incredible £240 in donations!
The children really threw themselves into the celebrations and had a lot of fun spending the day with friends and family.
