A group of KS2 children from St Cedd’s Church of England Primary School recently attended an Indoor Athletics Competition at the Dengie 100 Sports Centre in Burnham.
The competition, which was arranged by William de Ferrers High School, saw the children hop, skip and jump in a variety of fun events, racing faster than they ever had before! Despite being the smallest competing school, St Cedd’s finished the day in the lead. After beating tough competition from the four other schools at the competition, the team at St Cedd’s are heading to the finals on the 8th of December in Wickford.
Mrs Wood, Headteacher at St Cedd’s Church of England Primary School, said: “We may be a small school, but we are passionate about providing our children with the same opportunities as children attending larger schools”.
It was a very emotional moment for all the children and staff when the final results were announced, particularly as the children had worked incredibly well as a team throughout the day.
Mrs Wood continues, “Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to teach the children the skills they need to participate in as many sporting competitions as possible. I was incredibly proud when the children returned to school after coming first in the Indoors Athletics Competition. The children are very excited about participating in the final next month”.
