Leaders at Howbridge Junior School invited Priti Patel to share in their celebrations after receiving a ‘Good’ Ofsted result for the first time in more than 15 years.
The former home secretary attended an assembly at the school, where the pupils showcased their singing talent with a rendition of “We’re Proud of Our School”.
Pupils also had the opportunity to show Dame Patel the artwork they created to celebrate their Ofsted result. They took great pride in showing her the self-portraits they had drawn, which created a mosaic to spell out the word ‘GOOD’.
Dame Patel spoke to staff and pupils saying, “Congratulations to all of you – this outcome is a big deal. I wanted to say thank you to the teachers here who work incredibly hard to ensure that you as pupils have a great day, week and year at school.”
Our CEO, Emma Wigmore, said, “We are delighted that Dame Patel took the time to pay a visit to Howbridge this morning.
“We were over the moon when received the school’s most recent Ofsted report. It was wonderful to see the inspector recognise everything that makes Howbridge a brilliant school.
“This school has been on a long journey of improvement. The pupils, staff and school community have worked exceptionally hard, and we are proud to have this acknowledged.
“The school is an integral part of the Witham community, and we are happy that Dame Patel was able to share in this success for the local area.”
