Pupils at Howbridge Church of England Junior School were recently visited by Holocaust survivor, Eve Kugler, to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day.
During her visit, Eve spoke to the children about her family’s experiences during World War Two, a topic that the children had been studying in their History lessons over the last half-term. Separated from her family at the age of eight, Eve escaped Nazi Germany and spent the next five years living in several foster homes across New York before being reunited with her parents in 1946.
The school also welcomed members of the Holocaust Education Team, who spoke to pupils about the history of the Holocaust.
Lisa Dale, Headteacher at Howbridge C of E Junior School, said: “Having members of the Holocaust Education Team in school, especially a Holocaust survivor, was a thought-provoking and inspiring experience for all involved”.
