The Vine Schools Trust would like to wish a warm welcome to our new Deputy Director of Learning, Becky Fairhead.
Becky is a valued member of the Trust who has spent the last few years developing key skills in school improvement, Ofsted preparation, and curriculum design. She will be working closely with our other Deputy Director of Learning, George Athanasiou, to continue expanding the Trust’s capabilities.
What is your professional background/experience?
I have been part of the Vine Schools Trust for most of my teaching career and have worked in many leadership roles across our schools, including Subject Leader, KS1 Leader, and Head of School. This has given me a wide range of experience in school improvement, curriculum design, and preparing for Ofsted inspections. In addition to these roles, I am a KS1 moderator for the Local Authority and a qualified coach. I qualified as an SLE and decided to follow my passion for school improvement which led me to become the Lead SLE for the Trust. As part of this role, I have been working alongside a great team to ensure that the Trust’s vision and ambitions are upheld, as well as ensuring school improvement priorities are met.
Why do you enjoy working in education?
I love working in education because I want to help teachers and leaders to achieve their best so that children can receive the highest quality education possible. Seeing that lightbulb moment when a child achieves something never gets old! Whilst it has its challenges, it is such a rewarding and purposeful role. I enjoy the variety each day brings and feel lucky to work with such great colleagues.
How do you plan to support our family of schools through your new role?
Within my role, it is important to always keep the children at the heart of everything we do. I am privileged to meet a lot of children, families and staff as part of the job. When making Trust decisions, it is important to listen, share knowledge and work with all stakeholders to ensure we have the best outcomes for the children.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love a good walk, especially with a dog – I am dog mad! There is nothing better to help clear your head and feel ready for the week than a walk with a dog, especially if it is along a beach. If I want to treat myself, I also love a themed afternoon tea.
Where is a place that you love to visit in Essex?
I’ve been very lucky to visit many beautiful places in Essex. One of my favourite places is a bluebell woodland near Stock. I’ve also found some lovely walks (and cream teas!) in and around Saffron Walden. I would like to explore that area a bit more, as the buildings are really pretty and it is surrounded by countryside.
THANK YOU, BECKY
We’re pleased to have you as part of our Central Team and are looking forward to seeing all that you achieve in your new role.
