Things have been pretty hectic in the kitchen, but hopefully you’ve managed to enjoy some Easter themed treats this week.
With Easter just around the corner, I’ve been reminiscing about some of my own Easter memories. When my daughters were younger, we used to go to church most Sundays. I’ll never forget how the vicar used to give out chocolate eggs during the Eucharist. It was such a thoughtful gesture and always put a smile on everyone’s face. I think it might have been to keep the children quiet, but I too enjoyed receiving my chocolate egg as well as an Easter blessing.
Speaking of chocolate, did you know that Easter eggs were originally a symbol of the empty tomb? In early Christian cultures, eggs were painted and decorated to represent new life and rebirth, just as Christ rose from the tomb on Easter Sunday. Today, Easter eggs are a beloved tradition all around the world, with different countries having their own unique way of celebrating the holiday.
For me, Easter Tea is my favourite bit, and Mary Berry’s Sunday Best Chocolate Cake is always a winner – especially with Mini Eggs on the top, or cracked cream eggs, or of course, the biggest Lindt Chocolate Bunny you can lay your hands on.
So, have a break away from the kitchen for a few days and then get your baking tins out, and have a go at one of the best chocolate cakes you can make – enjoy the Bank holidays and indulge!
Easter isn’t just about food and treats. It’s also a time for reflection and spending time with loved ones and whether you’re spending time with family or taking a well-deserved break from work, I hope you have a great time.
Happy Chocolate Easter!
