Teachers and parents at William Martin Church of England Infant School are celebrating the results of their most recent Ofsted report, which saw inspectors praise the school’s extensive SEND offering and pastoral care.
After spending two days at the school, inspectors commented on the happy atmosphere and the friendly ethos, noting that “at the school gates, the children have smiles on their faces as they go into school”.
Inspectors also commented on the school’s excellent SEND provision, which sees staff make “apt adjustments and provide additional support to enable pupils with special educational needs to learn with their peers”. Teachers have been using a collection of new techniques, including pre-teaching and group workshops, to help other members of staff notice children who might be struggling.
Emma Wigmore, CEO of the Vine Schools Trust, commented; “We are incredibly proud of William Martin’s ‘Good’ Ofsted result. Trust leaders and governors have been working closely with the school to invest in key resources and staff training, and we’re pleased to hear inspectors noting how the ‘well-stocked new library and the newly refurbished outside areas provide exciting places for pupils to go’”.
