Pupils at Rolph C of E Primary have been lucky enough to have blue tits in their forest school nesting boxes.
With a camera in the nesting box, the pupils have been able to watch the blue tits as they grow.
Forest School and Outdoor Learning Lead at the school, Emma Sweeney, said, “The children have enjoyed every part of watching the development of the nest, from the building of the nests in April, to the hatching of the eggs.
“Children have been able to view the nest from our bird hide. Once the eggs hatched, we set up a television in the woodland area to enable a greater number of children to view the nest.
“We have been amazed at the growth rate and learnt a lot about the Blue Tits at different stages of the nesting process.”
What a unique learning experience for the pupils!
