The children at St Osyth Church of England Primary School have been paid a special visit by Clacton MP Giles Watling. Having recently formed their own student council with children from Years One to Six, the children were keen to discuss their interests in current affairs and policy writing with the visiting politician. All of the council were incredibly mature, and even used the visit as an opportunity to ask for advice about pursuing a career in politics!
After meeting the children, Mr. Watling MP commented that they were “a very nice group of children with well-thought-out questions. They represented the school wonderfully”.
The visit has inspired the school council to continue carrying out ambitious projects throughout the year, having already set up an eco-committee and raised large sums of money for breast cancer charities.
We’re so proud of the children for handling themselves in a polite and enthusiastic manner- they were even featured in the Clacton and Frinton Gazette!
