The children at St Andrew’s C of E Primary School in Weeley held a special Christingle day recently, which saw them attend the local church to make their own Christingle oranges.
Christingle oranges are a symbol of hope and Christ’s love for all of creation. Red ribbon is wrapped around an orange, which is then decorated with dried fruit and a candle. The children loved seeing their Christingles glowing in the church, with members of the local community also coming together to join in the celebration.
The Reverend Stallard later held a moving service at the school, which both the pupils and staff found very inspiring. Caring for the community is an important part of the school’s values, and it was really humbling to see the children pray for those in need and celebrate the light of Christ with their homemade Christingles.
What a lovely way to end the term!
