This last year has been incredibly difficult for everyone, particularly the health service and education. In order to applaud the fantastic work of all the doctors, nurses and other medical staff who have been caring for their communities, the children at St Margaret’s decided to raise money for the NHS recently in a day filled with rainbows and celebration.
On the day of the NHS’ 73rd birthday, the staff and students of St Margaret’s C of E Academy each donated money to the NHS charity in order to don their finest rainbow-coloured outfits, and spent the day taking part in a variety of fun activities designed to celebrate the NHS heroes who have made a real difference in the last year.
Whilst some students created beautiful NHS posters to put on display around the school, others conducted rainbow-themed science investigations with their classmates. Several classes wrote very touching letters and cards to NHS staff, which will be posted to Basildon Hospital later this week.
Becky Fairhead, Acting Head of School, notes;
“It was a really special day, and I am proud of all our children’s contributions to this special occasion.”
We really admire the enthusiasm that all the pupils at St Margaret’s brought to the day, as we continue to thank all those in the NHS who have been keeping both our families and our community safe over the pandemic.
